"YAY!"
One of my favorite things is when students draw pictures for me for no apparent reason.  I just love student art, especially when it is art that they create and that they decide to make.  That's really one of the big goals I have for my students as they take my art classes here at Creekview; for them to become independent art makers; for them to recognize the type of art that they like to create, and create it.  Not only do I display this work given to me proudly...but I actually even keep it after the kids are gone.  I am in my 13th year of teaching, and have gladly 'collected' student art given to me for at least the past 10.  It makes for great memories!!!
Everyone have a GREAT weekend!!!

MAGIC AND MUSIC
The cast of Magic and Music
I captured this picture today at rehearsal for our Creekview musical, "Magic and Music", and it was just too cute to not share!!!  One month away and still LOTS to do, but the kids are doing great and having a wonderful time!  Mrs. DelaHostria and I love working with them!

DRYING TIME...
5th Grade Ceramic Pinch Pot/Coil Abstracts
Over the past few weeks, the fifth grade green and yellow team students created an abstract sculpture combining two ceramic techniques; pinch pots and coiling.  In my mind I had pictured sometime a little more 'organic', but given the time frame that the kids had to work with, I think they did a marvelous job!!!  These projects are currently in the drying process, and it will probably take a full two weeks for all the water to completely evaporate from them.  Once completely dried, I'll fire them in the kiln at a toasty 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit; students will then paint them in late November/early December prior to their semester of art coming to a close.

"ART TO REMEMBER"

By now you SHOULD have received your Art to Remember envelopes with your student's artwork inside.  Please look them over and return them to me as soon as possible.

If you are ordering, the envelope is the order form.  Fill it out and return your artwork AND payment to me by Friday, October 25th!  (I'd like to have sixth grade orders by the 18th if possible...but if you need more time, sixth grade parents, just make sure I get them by the 25th!!!).  Please remember, if you are paying with check, to make your checks out to "Creekview Intermediate".  I cannot accept any check written to anything other than this.

If you are NOT ordering, that is okay.  However, I would still like envelopes and artworks returned to me.  I would like to have the artworks back so that sixth graders have them for their end of the year portfolio review, and fifth graders have another artwork to select of the end of the year art show.

That's that!  I appreciate everyone take the time to look over the Art to Remember program!  And thanks in advance to anyone who orders.  Your help to make the visual art program here at Creekview more exciting is certainly appreciated!!!

"IDENTITY SHIELDS"
"Identity Shields" created by Ellie C., David M., Jennifer M., and Evan B.
To start the school year, my first semester fifth graders created an "Identity Shield".  Each shield represents the student's individuality and personality in some artistic form.  The projects took a little longer than I had expected, but they are finally done (with a few exceptions...).  You should see these projects coming home this week and next as this project is also the fifth graders' "Art to Remember" project!!!  And...whether you order anything from "A2R' or not...I'd still like to get these projects back so that i can display them around the school AND have them for the end of the year art show.

Oh...and if your student brings their project home, and it isn't finished...don't fret!  I will find some time for them to finish it before sending it off to Art to Remember!!!

As always...if you ever have any questions, feel free to kick me an e-mail!  Thanks!!!  Happy Thursday!
