The fifth graders on the yellow, green and purple teams are in the final processes of their Onomatopoeia projects!!!  These wonderful visual noises will also serve as their Art to Remember projects, which I will be sure to touch base with you when the time arises.  As a fan of comics and visual mediums, I must say that these projects are turning out fantastic!!!

Team Work

My sixth grade classes are currently working in small groups to create a "team collage".  Each group chose a famous painting from art history and are trying to figure out how best to represent that painting utilizing the art of collage.  The kids still have a few days left to finish up, but so far I've been really impressed with what I've seen!!!

Sic of this year's Ceiling Tile Contest Winners working away!!!

This year's 11 winners of the annual art room Ceiling Tile Contest are finally working away on their tiles.  Students work on their tiles three times a week during their lunch and recess.  They will be excellent additions to the art room...and I can't wait to see them complete!!!

The Art Room Mural...a work in progress...

I cannot begin to tell you how exciting it is to finally have begun painting the art room mural.  I've always wanted to fill that giant empty white space as you enter my room with something...and well...it's finally happening.  I spent some time in the fall organizing what art elements I wanted to include in the mural, and then created a collage of those elements in Photoshop as a 'guide'.  I've gone back to that Photoshop collage a few times and changed and rearranged things to make sure that it looks as good as it can.  Anyway...it's a work in progress and I don't see it being complete until spring break...but I wanted to share it with you in the early stages of its completion.

Super Bat Weller???

Some students were confused thinking that I dressed up as Batman today, on "Super Hero Friday"...but they were wrong...

...I just dressed up as myself...just a normal day in the art room.  :)
